A number of new guides promoting the wealth of things to see and do in Aberdeen and Grampian are now available.
A new twelve-page A5 guide to fishing in Aberdeenshire has been produced by VisitScotland - Aberdeen and Grampian and Aberdeenshire Council. The guide will promote fishing opportunities in the area as well as make it easier for visiting and local anglers to access information. A report from the Scottish Executive puts the North East as the second highest revenue earning area in Scotland for fishing, with fishing tourism in Scotland bringing in a total of £180 million to the economy.
Aberdeen and Grampian Highland’s status as Scotland’s ‘Castle Country’ has once again been reinforced with the publication of the new Castle Trail guide for 2006. The brochure offers visitors the opportunity to explore the North East’s unique castellated architecture on Scotland’s only Castle Trail, which is made up of thirteen castles in the heart of Aberdeenshire. The guide also highlights eight other castles and gardens in Aberdeen and Grampian, including Balmoral and Dunnottar. For more information on the Castle Trail, please visit www.aberdeen-grampian.com. Visitors to the North East will now benefit from a brand new one-stop guide to the Granite City – the Aberdeen City Guide. Featuring over 120 local businesses, the guide highlights the wide variety of shopping, dining, parks and gardens, attractions and events Aberdeen has to offer, as well as places to go outwith the city such the Lecht 2090 Ski and Multi Activity Centre.
One of VisitScotland - Aberdeen and Grampian’s main publications, the 2006 Essential Guide, is also now available. The brochure includes sections on culture, heritage, whisky, the outdoors, gardens, activities and events, as well as an extensive section on shopping, eating and drinking across the area. Over 300 attractions are listed in the guide from castles and stately homes, through museums, distilleries and art galleries to activity providers and golf courses.
