Invest in our young people and celebrate success

As we say goodbye to a successful summer season and look ahead to welcoming visitors during the school holidays and over the winter period, thoughts start to turn towards 2018, a year in which Scotland celebrates its young people. 2018 builds on the success of Scotland’s previous Themed Years which have celebrated everything from the country’s food and drink, natural landscapes, innovation, architecture and design through to its history, heritage and creativity.

Last week, Scotland welcomed the news that it will host the World Youth and Student Travel Conference to Edinburgh in 2018. This high profile leading trade event for the global youth, student and educational travel industry further reinforces Scotland’s place on the world stage and re-affirms the importance of youth travel as a lucrative market for the global tourism industry.

Next year presents a fantastic opportunity to think about how you can inspire young people and families to place Scotland at the top of their travel wish-list. This month’s enewsletter contains a link to the newly launched Year of Young People toolkit with practical tips on how you can make the most of the year.

We also have the shortlist for this year’s regional Scottish Thistle Awards – congratulations to all. Enjoy this month's Tourism Insider.
