Think innovatively and engage with 2016

As Scotland looks to its Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design in 2016, we have this month announced opportunities for event organisers and young people across Scotland to get involved.

From textiles to technology, architecture to fashion and design, the year-long programme of events, festivals, business conferences and exhibitions will shine the spotlight on Scotland’s greatest assets and icons, as well as some of our unique hidden gems.

Young designers, get your creative juices flowing!
VisitScotland is putting young talent at the heart of plans for 2016 and is inviting young creatives (16 - 25 years) in Scotland to design the official logo used to promote the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design.

The designer whose logo is selected will win up to £3,000 towards materials, tools or activity to support their own professional development in the design sector.

The winning design will become the official logo for the forthcoming themed year. It will be used across multiple channels by VisitScotland and partner organisations in national and international promotional activity and throughout a programme of major and special events in 2016.

Designs should be submitted via email to communications@eventscotland.org by midnight on Sunday 12 July 2015.*

New funding available for innovative events

To support new events for 2016, a brand new £200,000 event fund is now available to develop activity celebrating Scotland’s achievements in innovation, architecture and design.

Applications are open for events and festival organisers across Scotland to apply to EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate, for a Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design event grant.

Supporting events from a minimum award of £4,000 up to a maximum award of £20,000, the funding will be awarded to create new or enhanced event activity, which reflects the themes and supports the objectives of the year, promoting Scotland, celebrating our achievements, encouraging participation and engagement and boosting tourism.

Events who wish to apply can do so online by visiting eventscotland.org/funding/year-of-innovation-architecture-and-design-2016. The fund closes for applications on 24 July 2015.
