Going for Gold

The regional Scottish Thistle Awards, which celebrate excellence, innovation and success within the local tourism industry, saw a total of five Fife businesses and individuals take home prizes.

Fresh from being named Scottish Restaurant of the Year 2015, The Adamson was named Best Restaurant Experience at the Tayside and Fife Scottish Thistle Awards regional final earlier this month.

Blown Away once again collected the Best Outdoor/Adventure Experience Award, impressing judges with their ability to deliver unforgettable experiences.

The Homelands Trust - Fife were crowned winners of the new Scotland CAN DO Award for Innovation in Tourism, beating off stiff competition from Craigatin House and Courtyard and Spa Uniq, and earning praise for their work in the accessible tourism sector.

St Andrews Links impressed judges enough to be named the only shortlisted entrant in the new Everyone’s Business category, celebrating innovative campaigns encouraging best practice, customer service and drive to offer a great and collaborative experience to every guest.

Finally, Amanda MacFarlane, Chief Executive at Fife Coast and Countryside Trust was named the Regional Ambassador award.

Winners will now go on to fly the flag for Fife, and the wider Tayside & Fife region, at the glittering national Scottish Thistle Awards final to be held as part of the Scottish Tourism Week Signature Programme at the EICC in March next year.

2015 saw a record breaking 615 entries submitted, including hundreds of nominations from members of the public keen to recognise hotels, restaurants, B&Bs, visitor attractions and individuals who go the extra mile to provide customers with exceptional service.
