A feast of activity in the Highlands

The Isle of Skye is getting some fantastic exposure thanks to VisitScotland's campaign activity, as we continue our work to showcase Scotland on a global stage as a place to visit and invest in.

We have teamed up with exciting new partner Secret Escapes to promote everything from food and drink trails around Scotland, to small, editorial features on Scottish food and drink businesses.

Aimed at potential visitors and foodies in the UK and predominantly south east England, this campaign is designed to inspire and encourage visitors to book a holiday to Scotland.

Running until the end of this month (31 March), activity has included dedicated emails to 200,000 Secret Escape members, online adverts and Facebook posts promoting the chance to ‘Win a foodie break in Scotland’. The Isle of Skye is taking centre stage in the campaign prize draw, which offers consumers the chance to win a two-night break with The Three Chimneys.

Skye also featured in the latest Brilliant Island Moments campaign, which has been offering 8,000 people the chance to enjoy a free return trip to one of 23 Scottish islands. After the overwhelming success of the last campaign, VisitScotland again teamed up with Caledonian MacBrayne and Serco Northlink Ferries to encourage people to explore Scotland’s Islands. It is expected that Skye will once again prove a popular destination, with its fantastic natural larder and scenery, which has inspired YouTube sensation, Danny Macaskill’s The Ridge

Hoping to build on some of this fantastic exposure, VisitScotland’s Consumer PR team has also been hard at work organising a recent press trip at the start of March. As part of the trip, organised by VisitScotland in conjunction with VisitBritain, a group of six international media experienced a fantastic day in Skye. The group were taken out coastal foraging by Wilderness Scotland and topped the experience off with overnight accommodation and dinner at Michelin starred Kinloch Lodge.

This visit formed part of a wider trip, which saw the group visit Edinburgh, Fife, Loch Lomond & the Trossachs and Glasgow.
