New Year’s resolution for visitor information

Start 2017 with a simple New Year’s resolution aimed at boosting both the visitor experience and visitor economy.

Commit to providing quality visitor information and inspiration by joining the VisitScotland Information Partner (VIP) programme.

Open, at no cost, to all Quality Assured businesses, as well as community groups and social enterprises, this scheme recognises and supports businesses working to bring quality information and inspiration to visitors.

Joining is simple. It takes just three steps and is based on self-assessment.

It’s a simple resolution for your business, but with the potential to make a significant impact:

Boost the visitor economy – by joining, you can help us reach more people with more personal information so they stay longer, spend more, and create jobs.

Enhance the visitor experience – nearly half of our visitors cite talking with locals as their source of information when looking for things to see and do (Scotland Visitor Survey, 2015). Meeting and exceeding consumer demand is crucial to Scotland enhancing its reputation as a must-visit, must-return destination.

Receive support and recognition – VIPs will be given access to an online toolkit with information and resources. To promote your VIP status, your business will also be provided with collateral and your award will be promoted on your listing.

Further information
Since the programme launch in June 2016, more than 740 businesses across Scotland have signed-up to the scheme. By the end of 2016, there were 133 participating businesses in the Highlands and 17 in Moray Speyside.

The VIP programme is part of VisitScotland’s iKnow Scotland programme which aims to harness the strength of local influence and market Scotland with Scotland. We are working with partners and industry to respond to the ever-changing landscape of visitor information provision.
