Harray’s Little Bothy, located central to the West Mainland, provides a perfect base to explore some of Orkney's icons of the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, such as the Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae. It recently attained a 4-star Quality Assurance (QA) award from VisitScotland.
The cottage, which was renovated from a traditional stone-built croft house and perched on the edge of Harray Loch on Orkney is owned and run by Heather MacInnes. Heather is delighted to have achieved the 4-star award, which she feels recognises the hard work by all involved.
The bothy has also recently become a VisitScotland Information Partner (VIP); this scheme was launched in June last year, and recognises the work businesses are already doing in enhancing the visitor experience and bringing the Spirit of Scotland to life.
The VIP programme is open to all Quality Assured businesses, community groups and social enterprises and there are now more than 15 businesses in Orkney who are part of the scheme. Discover more about how to get involved on visitscotland.org.
